Today the identity of Delhi is that of being the second metropolis and national capital of India. The city has the political status of a federally administered union territory and it also upholds great political and legislative importance. Delhi is one of the oldest cities in the world and a drive past city every time provides me an opportunity to explore another spectacular edifice.

The one aspect of the city that fascinates me the most is the harmonious co-existence of various cultures, languages and people under the premises of Delhi. As a result I have come across people from all walks of life, people belonging to different backgrounds. It is this flavor of the city that provides it a multi- ethnic culture, and provides its inhabitants the freedom of choice for following their set of beliefs, selecting their life style and freedom of thoughts.
This weekend my visit to the famous attractions of the city provided me an opportunity to explore another influencing aspect of the city. With my visit to Red Fort, Chandini Chowk and the bustling shopping area of Cannaught Place I was able to experience the presence of awe- inspiring variety in the city. Be it the Mughal construction of magnificent Red Fort or the oldest business market of Chandini Chowk to largest commercial, financial, commercial and business center the city is full of unlimited possibilities and options for growth.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Red Fort or Lal Qila is an ancient edifice which was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The planning and aesthetics of the fort fascinated me with the zenith of Mughal art which prevailed during that era. The fort is also the site from where Prime Minister of India addresses the nation on Indian Independence Day. This fort is a huge complex where we visited amazing architectural monuments as the fort contains various splendid sites.
Beginning from the main gate for the palace- Naqqar Khan to the large open courtyard which was the pavilion for public known as Diwan-i-Am to the lavishly decorated hall for ministers and court gatherings- Diwan- i- Khas the entire edifice is an impeccable tourist attraction in the city.
Thereafter we visited the nearby shopping area of Chandini Chowk for our lunch. This place is one of the oldest markets in central north India and historically is an important area between Red Fort and Jama Masjid. We enjoyed a lunch of authentic India cuisines and sweets and then shopped for some famous chikan and zaree work sarees from the place.
This day was concluded with the final visit to the glittering area of Cannaught Place which is one of the largest financial, commercial and business centers of the city. Located right in the heart of the city my visit to Cannaught Place provided me an opportunity to view the contrasting dynamics of Delhi that makes it one of the most attractive cities in India.
